Costs of Coverage
BWH® Hotels and you share the cost of your benefits.
- You pay your share of the cost of medical, dental and vision coverage before taxes are withheld from your pay.
- Any contributions you choose to make to the Dependent Care FSA or Health Savings Account (HSA) also are made on a before-tax basis.
Before-tax contributions help you save money. They lower the amount of federal income taxes as well as most state and local taxes you pay. They also reduce your Social Security taxes. When your taxable income is reduced, you pay less in taxes and save money each year. If you have more than $50,000 in basic life insurance coverage, the cost of coverage (not the amount of coverage) that exceeds $50,000 is considered “imputed income” by the IRS. Although this is a nominal amount each paycheck, it is reported as income on your IRS Form W-2. To learn more about premium discounts, click the links below:
Save with the Tobacco-Free Premium Discount
BWH Hotels are committed to supporting your health—and rewarding healthy choices. If you’re tobacco-free, you’ll pay less for your medical coverage thanks to the Tobacco-Free Premium Discount. These lower rates are already reflected in the chart below. If you currently use tobacco, you can still take advantage of the discount by completing an approved tobacco-cessation program. Participating in one of these programs not only helps you qualify for the reduced premium but also supports your long-term health and well-being.
To learn more about the discount and how to qualify, download the How to Qualify for the Tobacco-free Medical Plan Premium Discount guide. You’ll find details on eligible programs, required documentation, and the steps you’ll need to take to apply the discount to your coverage. Remember, both you and BWH℠ Hotels share in the cost of your medical coverage. Choosing the tobacco-free path not only lowers your paycheck contributions—it’s also a commitment to your long-term well-being and a healthier future.
