Prescription Drug Benefits

You are automatically enrolled in prescription drug coverage through CVS/Caremark when you enroll in a medical plan. Under the medical plans, you are responsible for paying the cost share of prescription drugs until you meet the maximum out of pocket amounts. Once the maximum out of pocket amount has been met, your prescription drugs are covered at 100%. Approved preventive drugs for conditions like high blood pressure or high cholesterol are covered at 100 percent to help you manage those conditions.

No Cost Preventive Drugs

This means eligible medications are available to you at no out-of-pocket cost, promoting better health and preventive care.  Examples of preventive medications and medication-related services that are covered without cost-sharing include:  contraceptives and related counseling and dispensing for women, certain vaccines, smoking-cessation therapies plus counseling if recommended, PrEP for individuals at high risk of HIV infection and other Medications tied to USPSTF A/B recommendations.  Visit www.caremark.com for a list of current medications covered at no-cost to you.

Ask for Generics

Generic and brand-name drugs have the same active ingredients, which means they have the same efficacy for treating your condition. The main difference is the cost to you. Brand-name drugs tend to be more expensive because of the lengthy drug development process. Manufacturers charge more to recoup costs. When a patent expires, other manufacturers can produce the medication, and competition drives the price down.

Home Delivery

Enjoy the convenience and savings of home delivery for medications you take on a regular basis through our mail-order prescription program. The larger 90-day supply is mailed directly to your home — saving you time and money.
